Mit Red Dirt Town schlägt die Allen-Forrester Band ein neues Kapitel auf. Die musikalischen Wurzeln der Band liegen nach wie vor im Southern Rock, Blues und Americana – geprägt von Künstlern und Bands wie The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes oder Blackberry Smoke. Gleichzeitig entwickelt die Band den eigenen Sound weiter und lässt neue Einflüsse zu, ohne dabei den Charakter ihrer Musik aus den Augen zu verlieren.

Den Ausgangspunkt für „White Picket Fences“ bildete ein sehr persönlicher Moment für Ben. Viele Jahre hatte er sich immer wieder gefragt, ob die Entscheidung richtig gewesen war, seine Heimat auf Long Island zu verlassen und für ein neues Leben nach Deutschland zu ziehen. Er gab einen gut bezahlten Beruf auf, folgte der Liebe und wagte den Schritt in die Selbstständigkeit als Musiker.

Als er schließlich erkannte, dass er diesen Weg niemals bereut hatte und sich von den Zweifeln anderer Menschen lösen konnte, entstand der Song beinahe wie von selbst.

Trotz seines Titels ist „White Picket Fences“ kein kritischer oder negativer Song. Vielmehr geht es um Zufriedenheit, Dankbarkeit und die Erkenntnis, den eigenen Weg gefunden zu haben. Mit seinem Geigenspiel verleiht Gastmusiker Gustavo Strauß dem Stück eine zusätzliche emotionale Ebene und sorgt für eine Atmosphäre, die stellenweise fast an einen Filmsoundtrack erinnert.

The new album from Allen-Forrester Band, Red Dirt Town, offers a fresh take on an old sound. The band’s foundation has always been built on the music that inspired them from the beginning—artists such as the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes, and Blackberry Smoke. While those Southern Rock, Blues, and Americana roots remain firmly intact, the band continues to look for ways to broaden their sound. On Red Dirt Town, that meant exploring more modern Nashville influences in their songwriting while staying true to the music that shaped them.

“White Picket Fences” was written by Ben during a period when he finally stopped questioning whether he regretted leaving his hometown on Long Island to pursue a new life in Germany. After walking away from a well-paying job that left him unfulfilled, he chose to follow love and pursue music full-time. Once he accepted that decision and let go of the doubts and criticism from those who expected him to fail, the song came together quickly.

While some may interpret the title as negative, the song is ultimately positive and carries a feeling of accomplishment and gratitude. Special guest Gustavo Strauß contributes fiddle throughout the track, complementing the guitars, keyboards, and vocals. The song carries a cinematic, soundtrack-like atmosphere.
