Heading South EP is the new Live EP from Allen-Forrester Band. Capturing a live snapshot of the band, the EP features four songs from the bands 2023 self-titled debut album that have been recorded live from the road in Southern Germany on their 2023 European Fall Tour.
The single, Soundtrack Of My Summer (released on February 23), is an homage to summers on Long Island, as well as the music that influenced the band leaders, Josh Allen and Ben Forrester.
The Allen-Forrester Band is a Blues and Rock band founded by New York guitarists Josh Allen and Ben Forrester. Inspired by the pioneers of the genre like The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes, and Blackberry Smoke, they put a new spin on the classic twin guitar sound and have combined their influences into a stirring mix of straight forward Blues Rock and melodic, song-oriented Southern Rock.
Their live shows are not only a showcase of sophisticated guitar riffs and Josh’s weathered, bluesy voice, but also of the entire band’s joy of playing and improvising. The rhythm section consisting of Hendrik Herder on bass and Matthias Böhm on drums complete the modern, yet timeless retro sound of the band.
The EP will be a streaming-only-release, debuting on March 22. The new release comes shortly before the band embarks on a Spring tour throughout Europe, starting on April 4th.

“Heading South” ist die neue Live-EP der Allen-Forrester Band. Die EP ist eine Momentaufnahme der Band auf Tour und enthält vier Songs aus dem selbstbetitelten Debütalbum der Band, das Anfang 2023 erschienen ist. Die Songs wurden live unterwegs in Süddeutschland auf ihrer Europa-Herbsttour 2023 aufgenommen und erscheinen nun als Streaming-Release.
Die Single „Soundtrack Of My Summer“ erscheint am 23. Februar und ist eine Hommage a die Sommer auf Long Island sowie a die Musik, mit der die Bandleader Josh Allen und Ben Forrester aufgewachsen sind.
Die Allen-Forrester Band ist ein gemeinsames Projekt der beiden New Yorker Gitarristen Ben Forrester und Josh Allen. Geprägt von den Pionieren des Southern Rock wie der Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes und Blackberry Smoke, verpassen die beiden dem klassischen Twin-Guitar-Sound einen neuen Anstrich und verbinden ihre Einflüsse zu einem mitreißenden Mix aus knackigem Bluesrock und melodischem Southern Rock.
Die Live-Shows der Allen-Forrester Band leben nicht nur vom klassischen amerikanischen Retro-Sound der Band und Josh Allens rauer Blues-Stimme, sondern auch von der Spielfreude und Improvisationskunst der Band, zu der neben den beiden amerikanischen Gitarristen auch die deutsche Rhythm Section (Hendrik Herder am Bass und Matthias Böhm an den Drums) ihren Beitrag leistet.
Die EP wird als reine Streaming-Veröffentlichung erscheinen und ist ab 22. März zu hören. Die neue EP erscheint kurz bevor die Band am 4. April auf Frühjahrstour durch Europa geht.
