Mit Red Dirt Town schlägt die Allen-Forrester Band ein neues Kapitel auf. Die musikalischen Wurzeln der Band liegen nach wie vor im Southern Rock, Blues und Americana – geprägt von Künstlern und Bands wie The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes oder Blackberry Smoke. Gleichzeitig entwickelt die Band den eigenen Sound weiter und lässt neue Einflüsse zu, ohne dabei den Charakter ihrer Musik aus den Augen zu verlieren.

„Red Dirt Town“ basiert auf einem Text von Cedric Cherney, die Musik stammt von der Allen-Forrester Band. Ausgangspunkt für den Song waren Cedrics eigene Erfahrungen, als er seine Heimatstadt Beulah in Alabama verließ, um eine Karriere beim Militär einzuschlagen.

Damals war er überzeugt, dass er die Enge einer Kleinstadt hinter sich ließ und die Menschen dort nur einen begrenzten Blick auf die Welt hatten. Erst nachdem er viele Jahre andere Orte kennengelernt und neue Erfahrungen gesammelt hatte, begann sich seine Sichtweise zu verändern.

Mit etwas Abstand erkannte er, dass die Menschen seiner Heimat keineswegs weltfremd waren. Sie hatten einfach gelernt, das zu schätzen, was sie besaßen: Familie, Freundschaften, Gemeinschaft und ein erfülltes Leben ohne großen materiellen Reichtum.

„Red Dirt Town“ ist deshalb eine Hommage an die Menschen und Werte, die einen prägen. Der Song erzählt davon, dass Glück und Freiheit nicht zwangsläufig mit Geld oder Status verbunden sind, sondern oft dort zu finden sind, wo man seine Wurzeln hat.

Auch Ben konnte sich mit dieser Geschichte stark identifizieren, da er selbst seine Heimat verlassen hat, um einen anderen Lebensweg einzuschlagen.

Gleichzeitig markiert der Song einen besonderen Moment für die Band: Zum ersten Mal übernimmt Ben die Lead-Vocals in den Strophen eines Allen-Forrester-Band-Songs, während Josh die Refrains und die Bridge singt.

The new album from Allen-Forrester Band, Red Dirt Town, offers a fresh take on an old sound. The band’s foundation has always been built on the music that inspired them from the beginning—artists such as the Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Crowes, and Blackberry Smoke. While those Southern Rock, Blues, and Americana roots remain firmly intact, the band continues to look for ways to broaden their sound. On Red Dirt Town, that meant exploring more modern Nashville influences in their songwriting while staying true to the music that shaped them.

“Red Dirt Town” features lyrics written by Cedric Cherney and music written by Allen-Forrester Band. The song reflects Cedric’s personal experience of leaving his hometown of Beulah, Alabama, to pursue a military career. As a young man, he believed he was leaving behind a small-town community that lacked a broader understanding of the world. However, after experiencing life elsewhere and eventually returning home, he realized that the people he once underestimated were simply content with what they had.

The song celebrates a community rich in love, relationships, and simple pleasures. It acknowledges that happiness and freedom are not measured by wealth or status, but by the life built around the people who matter most. In the end, the people of his hometown prove to be among the wisest individuals he knows.

The song resonated deeply with Ben, who also left home in search of a different life. The track features Ben’s lead vocal debut with Allen-Forrester Band, singing the verses, while Josh handles the choruses and bridge.
